Ayesa has added a new emblematic project to its portfolio. The company will be part of the team that will redesign the new Ramblas of Barcelona, one of the most important urban developments expected in Catalonia in the coming years. Not only due to the size of the work, but also due to the social, commercial and touristic importance of the work on this iconic street where more than one hundred million people pass by each year.
The City Council of Barcelona recently awarded the contract for the drafting of the strategies document, the design, the Las Ramblas urban planning project and the works management to the kmZERO Joint Venture.
The consortium, in which Ayesa has a 29.98% stake, is completed by the architecture studio Espinas i Tarrasó, Lola Domenech, Itziar Gonzalez and Arnau Boix. Six-month deadlines are envisaged for the drafting of the strategy document and the design, and another six months for the drafting of the urban planning project, so that the work will start at the beginning of 2019.
The kmZERO joint venture team, made up of 15 professionals, beat five other groups in this international tender, which the city council launched last March with the purpose of deciding on "actions for the revitalization, improvement and physical and social transformation of the Rambla and its area of influence”.
